'Tis the Season for holiday appetizers!
I wanted to jazz up my standard starters with
something festive and pretty for parties,
guest's stopping by or to enjoy with a glass of wine by the fire.
As an ode to my favorite "pear-ing" of pears and blue cheese,
these loaded chips are a match made in heaven.
I love pears.
The shape, the colors, their crisp sweetness...
Baked into chips,
they are great on their own but even better with toppings...
The slightly sweet and nutty the chips are perfect with
creamy, tangy blue cheese, crisp bacon
and the subtle pepper of thyme,
it's a party on a platter
makes approximately 20 appetizers
For Chips
Preheat oven to 225 degrees
slice 2 fresh pears, as thinly as possible (I cut them lengthwise because I like to keep the pear shape but you can also slice into rounds if you cut widthwise)
Place slices on a parchment lined cookie sheet
Depending on how "well done" you like them, cook pears 1 1/2 to 2 hours - turning over at half way point.
Remove from oven and cool on wire racks
Top pear chips with crumbled blue cheese, freshly crumbled bacon and leaves of fresh thyme. Serve and enjoy.

How did you get your chips to come so flat? Mine curled up and shrunk quite a bit. I think I baked them for 2 hours, but I watched them at 1.5 and left them in for two more 15 minute increments.
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer,
DeleteThat's so weird, I didn't have a problem with them curling at all, maybe cut them a little thicker?
What a unique appetizer or snack!! I love the idea especially because it is so healthy :)
