This Halloween,
we are getting a little "witchy" with a craft - yarn voodoo dolls...
Simple to make and fun to give or keep.
Make them to look like your friends or enemies...
You'll be a witch doctor in no time!
I cut yarn (1, 2 or 3 colors) approximately 60" for the body and 40"for the arms.
(I like to make them larger than I need because it it easier to tie knots and
you can always cut down to the size you'd like)
you can always cut down to the size you'd like)
Loop them around a few times in a circle as in picture 1 below then
tie a knot near the top of the body strand for the "head"
and 2 knots in the arm strand as in picture 2
Cut the loop at the bottom of the body to form 2 legs and knot each.
Then slip the arm through the legs as in picture 4 above.
Take a piece of yarn about 15" and lay it diagonally across the arm as in the 1st picture below.
Wrap around 3 times on that diagonal then go diagonally the other way to make an X securing the arms on. Tie the 2 ends into a knot on the back of the doll and trim the loose stands.
Lastly, trim the yarn on the outside of the arm knots, leg knots and the top for the hair.
Style the hair and glue on a small paper heart and your doll is ready for
Halloween fun...
So "stick" it to them this Halloween,
If you know any teenage girls,
I dare you to ask,
"tell me where you're hiding your voodoo doll" and not have them break out in this
5 Seconds of Summer song!
