I am helping a friend plan her birthday celebration.
Just a simple afternoon tennis and a casual lunch at a local club.
She wants something playful and fun for the centerpieces,
playing on the "country club" vibe.
We decided on bright yellow and green for the colors
and immediately lilies came to mind.
They are bold, beautiful, modern and so easy to find
and what better to put gorgeous yellow lilies in,
than a giant tennis ball!
The Lily LOVE Centerpiece...
I am often challenged in the flower arranging department,
but this was a cinch.
I got the fabulous flowers at our local market...
(really these are from Safeway!)
then took a jumbo tennis ball
(I found mine at Michael's)
and cut a slit in it carefully with an exacto knife
(I did an x shape about an inch in length)
I trimmed the lilies...
and put them in those plastic water holders...
then inserted a few stems into the ball...
(with the big fabulous blooms, they looked great anyway I put them in!)
Finally, I place the ball in a
"trophy-esq" holder and
Game, Set, Match...they are ready to go!
You'll notice there are a few white lilies in the arrangement too.
I could not resist "borrowing" a few of the stems,
from the potted Easter Lily
I got a few weeks ago that is still THRIVING!
This was our Easter Centerpiece...
I am hooked on lilies.
They last forever, look great in any container and
are such a refreshing change from what I have been buying.
You can get them everywhere, at grocery stores,
garden centers and flower shops.
With so many colors and varieties you can never get bored!
